Welded beam manufacturing

Since 2004 metal structures plant OOO Metallostroy (LLC) offers services for the production of welded beams. Metal structures plant OOO Metallostroy (LLC) is a subsidiary of AO Metallotorg, represented on the metal construction market by a network of metal bases in the European part of Russia.

Welded steel beams are lighter than hot-rolled materials, the entire steel structure is facilitated, and the load on it is reduced. The steel welded girder (also known as supporting beam) also has the shape of the letter “H” and meets in strength to the rolled beam.

The welded beam welding process is automated under the flux layer in compliance with TU 090500102232 1999-2006 standard, the welded I-beam on the other hand differs from the hot-rolled one by manufacturing method and is much longer.

Buying beams from us you can choose the length you need, which will save on the purchase, waste and installation time.

We can also order a beam of more than 16m , due to this you can expand the spans of buildings.

To order a welded beam, the customer needs to know:

  • metal strength grade
  • steel grade
  • beam number and length (L)
  • the required scope of supply and the requirements of the drawings (details for the final shop drawing)

The welded I-beam is made of sheet steel according to the standard 19903, of the following grades: С245 (ст3) and С345 (ст 09Г2С). The steel grade itself is used according to GOST 27772 and GOST 14637, GOST 19281. The length of the welded beams is from 3 to 16m. The beam number indicates the rounded value of the height (H) of the I-beam in cm. As well as a rolled beam, the welded beam has characteristics such as flange width (B) and wall thickness (S). Sectional diagram of welded beams: H - beam height
h - wall height
L is the length of the beam
B - flange width
S - wall thickness
t - flange thickness

The managers of AO Metallotorg will help to calculate the prices per ton of welded beam, according to the final shop drawing. You can make an order of welded beams by contacting  sales department of our company.

Welded beam manufacturing

First, the sheet metal is cut into strips according to the parameters of the future beam. Secondly, an edge is machined on a milling machine for further high-quality welding. Next, the beam is assembled perpendicularly. The special clamps on the milling machine are used. In automated welding, flux use is essential as it protects the metal from oxygen at the welding site and generates stable arcing. Semi-automatic welding is carried out in a protective gas environment. The joining of the sheets of the flanges of the walls of the I-beam is made end-to-end with the use of two-sided or one-sided welding during the processing of the welding root. Weld joint must be continuous. While the I-beam has not cooled, they eliminate the deformations of the metal on the machines by gently milling or continuous grinding. Afterwards the edges are processed and ground from corrosion.

Welded metal beams are used for supporting frame and crane structures in the building construction and floors construction. Welded iron beam is used in the machine, bridge and shipbuilding, for lines of communication, laying tunnels.
