Oxy-fuel cutting on CNC machines

The method of oxyfuel cutting on CNC machines ( CNC cutting ) is based on the combustion of metal in pure oxygen. The jet of oxygen removes slags from the resulting cut. The cutting machines allow you to cut sheets with a thickness of 4 to 100 mm at a fairly high speed and to obtain accurate metal blanks, high-quality cuts and details of any shape. The accuracy of the dimensions of parts when cutting large thicknesses does not exceed 2 mm. Compared with plasma cutting, oxy-fuel metal cutting is far more cost-effective.

The cutting machine itself is a durable table capable of withstanding high thermal loads.

Numerical control makes it possible to cut a steel sheet without interrupting. Height of the cutter above the sheet is adjustable. Once the metal is heated, oxygen cutting turnes on automatically, which is ensured by the gas equipment electronics. During oxy-fuel cutting, the edges of the sheet are ready for further processing, since the edges do not become overheated. The cut quality is achieved by optimal oxygen supply and purity of this gas. The cleaner the oxygen, the less slag is formed on the edges of the rolled-stock. The flame is adjusted during the process of oxy-fuel cutting so that it passes through the sheet also contributing to a better cut. Adjusting the speed of the torch ( cutting with a cutter machine ), one can achieve clean edges, without sagging.

This cutting method is mainly designed for the processing of low carbon steels with a carbon content of less than 0.3%. Steels with an amount of Carbon of not more than 0.7% (medium carbon steels) are being cut worse. High carbon steels are cut with the addition of flux.
